The festivities kicked off with the highly anticipated Pride Flag Raising Ceremony at City Hall, where Mayor Mike Coffman proudly raised the Progress Pride flag in recognition of the city’s commitment to inclusivity. Throughout the month, Aurora will host a series of events catered to the LGBTQ+ community. Among these are the Aurora Pride Festival, a daylong celebration featuring live music, entertainment, vendors, and family-friendly activities; and the Aurora Pride 5K Run/Walk, a fitness-packed event that raises funds for local LGBTQ+ organizations. The city’s LGBTQ+ community center, Aurora Pride Center, is also hosting a variety of programs and workshops throughout Pride Month. These events provide a safe and supportive space for LGBTQ+ individuals to connect, learn, and advocate for their rights. “Pride Month is a time to celebrate our diversity, our resilience, and our unwavering commitment to equality,” said Amy Howe, Director of Aurora Pride Center. “We are grateful for the city’s support and the outpouring of community spirit that makes Aurora such a welcoming place for LGBTQ+ individuals.” Aurora’s businesses and organizations are also joining in the celebration, with many displaying rainbow flags and offering special discounts and promotions to show their support.
