The transformation, spearheaded by the LGBTQ+ advocacy group Georgia Equality, aims to raise awareness about the LGBTQ+ community and promote acceptance and equality. “Peachtree Street is one of the most iconic streets in Atlanta, and we are thrilled to be able to transform it into a symbol of Pride,” said Jeff Graham, executive director of Georgia Equality. The colorful displays extend for several blocks along Peachtree, starting at 14th Street and continuing northward. Buildings, storefronts, and even lampposts have been decorated with rainbow-themed artwork. Local businesses have also embraced the initiative, with some offering Pride-themed promotions and events. Throughout Pride Month, Rainbow Alley will host various events and activities, including live music, art exhibitions, and drag performances. The street will also serve as a gathering place for the LGBTQ+ community and allies to celebrate diversity and advocate for equal rights. The transformation of Peachtree Street has been met with widespread enthusiasm and support. City officials, LGBTQ+ organizations, and residents alike have praised the initiative as a powerful symbol of Atlanta’s commitment to inclusivity. “Atlanta is a vibrant and diverse city, and Rainbow Alley is a beautiful reflection of that,” said Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms. “We are proud to stand with our LGBTQ+ community and celebrate their resilience and unwavering spirit.” The Rainbow Alley installation will remain in place throughout Pride Month, which ends on June 30. It is hoped that the colorful displays will not only foster a sense of pride and belonging but also inspire ongoing dialogue and support for the LGBTQ+ community.
