At approximately 1:30 PM today, library staff notified police after discovering the unattended package in the lobby of the building. The package is described as a small, brown cardboard box with wires protruding from it. Officers from the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police Bomb Squad responded to the scene and secured the area. The Allegheny County Technical Rescue Team was also called in to assist in the investigation. The library has been evacuated, and no injuries have been reported. Grant Street is currently closed between Fifth and Forbes Avenues while police investigate. Police are asking the public to avoid the area until further notice.
