The Asheville Artists Showcase, hosted at the historic Pack Place Education, Arts and Science Center, celebrates the vibrant creativity that has made the city an artistic hub. The exhibition features an eclectic mix of mediums, styles, and perspectives from over 70 artists. From ethereal paintings that evoke the beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains to abstract sculptures that explore the complexities of the human condition, the works on display reflect the boundless imagination and experimentation of the Asheville art scene. “This exhibition is a testament to the incredible talent and diversity of our local artists,” said Mary Clayton, Executive Director of Pack Place. “It’s an opportunity for the community to connect with their creativity and appreciate the vibrant cultural landscape that we have here.” One of the highlights of the show is a series of large-scale murals created by Asheville street artist, James “Earsnot” Green. His vibrant and thought-provoking works explore themes of identity, community, and social justice. Another notable artist featured is painter Christina Clayton, known for her evocative landscapes that capture the essence of the Western North Carolina mountains and skies. Her ethereal paintings invite viewers to immerse themselves in the beauty and tranquility of the natural world. The exhibition also showcases the work of emerging artists, such as ceramicist Sarah Carter, whose playful and functional pieces combine traditional techniques with contemporary designs. Her vibrant glazes and intricate patterns bring a sense of joy and whimsy to everyday objects. “I’m so excited to share my work with the community,” said Carter. “It’s an honor to be included in this exhibition alongside such established artists.” The Asheville Artists Showcase runs from now until March 2023. Pack Place will host a series of events and workshops in conjunction with the exhibition, providing opportunities for the public to engage with the artists and learn more about their creative processes. “We encourage everyone to come out and experience the vibrant creativity that Asheville has to offer,” said Clayton. “This exhibition is a celebration of the arts and a reminder that our community is filled with talented people who make Asheville a special place to live and work.”
