Frisco, Texas Residents Evacuate After Massive Gas LeakFrisco, Texas Residents Evacuate After Massive Gas Leak Frisco, Texas – Emergency officials ordered the evacuation of several neighborhoods in Frisco, Texas, on Wednesday evening after a massive natural gas leak caused significant damage and threatened the safety of residents. The leak was reported at around 7:30 p.m. near Main Street and Legacy Drive in the Stonebriar area of Frisco. Witnesses reported hearing a loud explosion and seeing a large plume of gas rising into the air. Firefighters and gas utility crews responded immediately and were able to control the leak within a few hours. However, the release of gas had already caused extensive damage to homes and businesses in the surrounding area. “We’ve got a lot of homes that have been affected, a lot of blown-out windows, some structural damage,” said Frisco Fire Marshal Keith Kersten. Over 1,200 residents were ordered to evacuate from their homes in the impacted neighborhoods. The evacuation area included parts of the Stonebriar, Prestonwood, and Panther Creek subdivisions. Evacuated residents were directed to the nearby Frisco ISD Stadium, where an emergency shelter was set up. They were advised to bring essential belongings and medications with them. “We’re just praying that it’s not too extensive and that everyone’s safe,” said one evacuated resident, Emily Jones. The cause of the leak is still under investigation. Authorities said it could take several days to repair the damaged gas line and restore service to affected areas. “This is a very serious situation, and we’re asking everyone to follow the instructions of emergency responders,” said Frisco Mayor Jeff Cheney. The evacuation is expected to last for at least 24 hours. Residents will be notified when it is safe to return to their homes.
