The park, situated in the picturesque waterfront community of Old Town North, features an array of paw-some amenities that cater to dogs of all sizes and temperaments. Upon entering the park, dog owners are greeted by a spacious off-leash area divided into two sections: one for small dogs under 25 pounds and another for larger breeds. Both areas boast ample room for dogs to run, play, and interact with their fellow canines. The park is thoughtfully designed with a host of features that enhance the canine experience. These include: * Dog-friendly water fountains to keep thirsty pups hydrated * Agility obstacles to challenge dogs physically and mentally * Benches for owners to relax and socialize * Ample shade trees to provide respite from the sun * Separate areas for dogs to “do their business” The park’s most unique feature is its “Bark Out Loud” zone, a dedicated space specifically designed for dogs to express their vocalizations without disturbing nearby residents. The zone is enclosed by sound-absorbing barriers, allowing dogs to bark, howl, and sing to their heart’s content. “We’re thrilled to open this new dog park in Alexandria,” said Mayor Justin Wilson. “It’s a wonderful addition to our community and provides a safe and enjoyable space for dogs to socialize, exercise, and simply have a good time.” The dog park has been a long-awaited project for Alexandria residents. The city’s previous dog park, located in a different neighborhood, had become overcrowded and inadequate. The new park is more than twice the size of its predecessor and is expected to meet the needs of Alexandria’s growing canine population. “This park is a dream come true,” said Sarah Jones, a local dog owner. “My dog, Bella, loves to run and play, and this park gives her the space to do that safely. It’s also a great place for me to meet other dog owners and socialize.” The Alexandria Dog Park is open daily from dawn to dusk. Dogs must be up-to-date on vaccinations and well-behaved to enter the park. Owners are required to clean up after their pets and adhere to all park rules and regulations.
